What is a booking app for a local business, and what does it include?
A booking app is your own branded Android and iOS app where a customer opens your services, sees which slots are genuinely free and confirms one themselves — instead of ringing you, messaging on WhatsApp or turning up to ask. It carries a services list, time-slot booking against your real availability, pre-paid bookings, push reminders before the appointment, booking by staff member, an admin panel for the calendar, customer reviews and Google Calendar sync. Roy Digital App Studio builds it done-for-you on the Growth tier at ₹15,999, typically in 8–12 days once your service list and branding are ready. Prices exclude 18% GST.
It suits the businesses that run on appointments rather than footfall — salons and wellness studios, clinics and consulting rooms, coaches and tutors, gyms and fitness studios. On handover you own the app and its Firebase project outright, so the customer records and the booking history stay with your business rather than with an aggregator that also lists your competitors.

Frequently asked questions
Can I take payment when a customer books, or only when they arrive?
Either, and you can mix the two by service. Pre-paid bookings are part of the Growth tier at ₹15,999 + GST, with UPI and cards handled through Razorpay, so you can ask for the full amount or a holding deposit on the slots that cost you most when they go empty — a long colouring appointment, say — and leave a quick consultation as pay-on-arrival.
Will an app actually cut my no-shows?
Nobody can promise you a number, and any developer who quotes one is guessing. What the app changes is the two things that cause most no-shows: the customer gets an automatic push reminder before the appointment instead of relying on memory, and a slot they have already paid for costs them something to miss. Whether that moves your own figure depends on your customers and what you charge. Track your no-show rate for a month before launch so you can tell afterwards, rather than guessing.
I have three staff with different timings and days off. Can the app handle that?
Yes. Booking by staff member is part of the bookings template, so each person has their own services, working hours and days off, and a customer can either pick who they want or take the first free slot. The admin panel is where you change someone's hours, block a holiday or move a booking, and it updates what customers see straight away.
Does it fit around the Google Calendar I already use?
Google Calendar sync is one of the bookings features, and the Growth tier includes one integration, so for most appointment businesses that is the one to spend it on — new bookings land in the calendar you already check. If you need more than one outside system connected, flag it during the free blueprint so it is scoped and priced before you commit.
Can I still take walk-ins and bookings over the phone?
Yes, and most businesses do for a long while. The admin panel lets you add a booking yourself, so a phone call or a walk-in goes into the same calendar the app is reading from and the slot stops being offered to anyone else. The app is there to take the easy bookings off your counter, not to become the only way in.
My customers are older and not big on apps. Is this worth it for me?
Be honest with yourself about it rather than taking our word. A fair test is how many of your regulars already message you to book instead of calling — those are the people who will use an app, and they are usually your busiest customers. If almost everyone still phones, a booking app will not change that this year, and the free blueprint is a better place to find that out than an invoice.
